A simple poem
It hides inside
my closed hand.
A teeny tiny seed.
It is pale, and it
is unimpressive,
not insignificant.
Inside its core,
there’s an imprint.
It is perfect, a gift
from God to me.
I see the promise,
I trust the potential.
I desire to serve.
I find fertile soil,
I open my hand,
I plant and I water.
Then I wait…
to see it grow.
But so often,
giant excavators
of indifference
simply move in to
dig up and destroy.
Oh Lord, I’m so tired
and my heart is tender.
I clench my fist, but
my strength is low.
Inside, yet another
one ready to plant.
A teeny tiny seed, a
pale mustard seed.
Please make it grow?

Lulu, this morning when we went for our walk, Jakob, the worker who is so full of the Spirit, came toward us again, just as before. And this morning’s message to us was: “When we pray, we must first believe that the LORD is there. We must not first pray and then try to believe. We must believe, believe, believe before we begin to pray.” I read this profound, “simple” poem of yours, and I know we don’t have to try to believe after the prayer. We believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him [Heb 11:6].
What a prayer you have just prayed!
Lord, let Lulu and everyone who plants mustard seeds to your honour experience, in your time, the growth that You will give in answer to this prayer. AMEN.
Dear Maretha, thank you so very much for sharing this beautiful interaction you had with a precious fellow believer. Thank you for sharing this simple truth and for your heartfelt prayer! ✝️
Lovely images here! Well done, Lulu!
Thank you, dear Janet! ❤️
