BEAUTIFUL BUTTABYE BABY

Adalese is a specific dialect of the English language, as spoken by my adorable granddaughter, Adalee Hay.

Dictionary (Adalese-English):

buttabuy – butterfly

WHERE’S MY BEAUTIFUL BUTTABYE BABY? THERE YOU ARE! I SEE YOU!

We play this game every time you come over to our house. I pretend to not see you while you are securely nestled into your OupaAssie’s arms. My question would always light up your little face, and then upon my pretend-discovery of you, you would erupt with shrieks of contagious laughter.

Unlike most other little girls who are fixated on princesses and fairies, you are infatuated with butterflies. Tiny flying insects with wings almost as bright and colourful as your poignant personality and budding beauty. With your flawless olive complexion, blue eyes and blonde curls, you most certainly classify as the poster child for cutest toddler in our perfect-image-obsessed world. Of course I agree that you are the cutest toddler on the planet, but naturally, as your Nana, I am guilty of prejudice and bias.

Today you are two years old and I absolutely love everything about you. Whether your twos will turn out to be terrible or terrific or even a combination of both, I want you to know this one thing…. Here at your Nana & OupaAssie’s house, you can always count on me to find you AND see you!

In the years to come, you will outgrow your cute baby cheeks, Adalese will sound more and more like English and the fickle world we live in, might even lose its ability to recognize your natural beauty. Don’t ever second-guess your value, your beauty or your desire to be found and seen/noticed. You will always be my beautiful buttabye baby, and for as long as I live, I will seek you, find you and see you! However, there is One to Whom you are orders of magnitude more precious than you can ever be to any human being. His name is Jesus and He always sees you! Find your validation only in Him!

To my dearest AddiePie, happy second birthday today!

Dear BUTTABYE Addie and Addie’s granny, what am I to do now? You’ve just stolen my heart — both with that beautiful photo of little Addie and with the heartfelt promise her granny Lulu made to her.
Addie, I know your granny. When she makes a promise, she keeps it. May the two of you — and the whole family surrounding you — experience today as a truly special day of blessing. Little Addie, your family nearly lost you… but it was the will and mercy of the LORD that spared your life here on earth. You are a miracle-child, and we praise the LORD for you!

Thank you for this, Lulu. It’s not only a blessing to Addie — but to every reader here.
