iPad or chopping board?
Thank you to my beloved son Jack van Aswegen, jaxonnator, for the song rendition of my poem.
{intro}
My processing chip
is solid and sturdy,
not swift and snazzy.
It’ll get to the answer,
the correct one if
you would just wait
and cool your jets.
Yes, my exterior is
somewhat worn, even
unappealing if you will.
Not streamlined or shiny,
rather dowdy and dull.
I hail from a time passed,
yesteryear’s generation.
{refrain}
My ON/OFF switch button,
still a little sticky from
a Coke spill long ago,
is still fully functional.
It’s the gateway to what’s
missing in the modern era,
the non-instant treasures.
Take the time to discover
the value I can bring you.
The eloquence of experience,
the wonder of wisdom—
carefully crafted over time.
The superior brilliance of AI,
not artificial, but authentic.
{bridge}
Through sheer ignorance, or
perhaps even impatience,
I’ve been reduced to service
as a food chopping board.
Young generation’s innovation
for the useful application of a
slow, otherwise, useless tool.
{refrain}
My ON/OFF switch button,
still a little sticky from
a Coke spill long ago,
is still fully functional.
It’s the gateway to what’s
missing in the modern era,
the non-instant treasures.
The ignorant and impatient
chop away, oblivious to the
eloquence and wonder.
The indifferent know the
eloquence and wonder,
but choose to chop away.
Indiscretion and indictment.
{outro}
My hardware is dodgy, and
my software updates are tedious.
But my value, it is undeniable,
indispensable and incalculable.
Be a chop and chop away, or
find a way to cherish my value.
Bright youngster, the choice is yours.

Beautiful!
Thank you, dear Nonnie!
As ek mooi lees voel ek myself en die chopping bord, eens
dankie, so mooi geskryf
Dankie vir jou waardering, liewe Charnetta!
